RioProgress College Prep & Rio Progress Career Track ("RioProgress", "RP","we", "us") offers services to students and adults in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, United States of America. This Privacy Notice ("Notice") covers the Personal Information RioProgress and our affiliates and partner orgs ("affiliates") collect through rioprogress.org and other websites or applications that post a link to this notice.

Personal Information RioProgress Collects

Personal information you provide to us

From our Website & Events: We collect personal information that you choose to provide to us, for example in our sign up for our newsletter form (or similar) or Cohort Application, we collect personal information such as name, e-mail adress, physical address, and educational background (gpa, high-school, etc). We may collect and store media, documents shared with us for the purposes of providing our counseling, and workshop services for career and college programs.

Information we automatically collect

When you visit our website: We may collect information based on your IP address such as location data provided from your network activity. This is used to ensure proper site function. When setting up an account, we may collect information such as first name, last name, and email as well as preferences for newsletters you receive as a result. At any time, you may unsubscribe or delete your account to remove your information from our online services such as our website and newsletter.

When you receive an email from us: We may collect metrics such as the time an email is opened, time email is received, and clicks on links within our emails.

Information from Trusted Third Parties:

When your High School or Academic Institution refers us to you: We may collect personal information such as your first and last name, your class rank, GPA, and test scores. From this information we will store this information within our CRM platform that is password protected and encrypts your data.

How and on what grounds do we use your Personal Information?

Personal Information we collect directly from you via our websites or events: We use the information you provide to keep our website secure, running, and serving the relevant resources for your career or college program. You always have the option to opt out of communications with RioProgress by unsubscribing from our newsletters by accessing your account on the site.

Personal Information we collect through direct marketing: We may collect information directly from you based on your search results on a platform like Google, Bing, etc. RioProgress does not utilize your information to serve targeted advertisements.

Personal Information we collect through programs: We may collect information related to your education, work history, through our College Prep and Career Track programs. Information collected through these programs are provided by you for the purposes of advising and aiding you in the college application process and job search and negotiation processes.

How do we share and disclose Personal Information to Third Parties

We share and disclose information, including Personal Information, about our program participants in the following limited circumstances:

College Application Interviews & Mentor Matching
We may share your Personal information with consultants, and counselors to perform services on our behalf. These processors include volunteers, former students, current public school guidance counselors, tools we use to prevent spam, software providers (e.g. Notion), and email service providers (e.g. Mailgun).

Career Track Applicants
We may share your Personal Information with consultants and hiring managers to perform services on our behalf. These processors include volunteers, HR representatives, Career Fair organizers, software to maintain information (e.g. Notion) and email service providers (e.g. Mailgun).

Protection of RioProgress & Others
We reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any Personal Information as necessary to i) comply with a law or a court order, ii) enforce or apply our Agreements with you and other agreements, or iii) protect the rights, property, or safety of RioProgress, our employees, our users, or others.

Disclosures for national security or law enforcement
Under certain circumstances, we may be required to disclose your Personal Information in response to valid requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements, based on our legitimate interests or legal obligations.

We do not knowingly collect or solicit information from children under the age of 13

We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for the services or send any Personal Information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that a child under 13 may have provided us their Personal Information, please contact us at phil@rioprogress.org

For your convenience, hyperlinks are posted on the Websites that link to other websites (“Linked Sites”). We are not responsible for, and this Notice does not apply to, the privacy practices of any Linked Sites or of any companies that we do not own or control.
